Are you looking for a safe and versatile peel that can address a wide variety of cosmetic issues? If so, you may be interested in the Vitalize Peel®. The Vitalize Peel can be used for seasonal rejuvenation, as prep for laser therapies, for overall rejuvenation, and for correction of tone, texture, and tightness issues. It’s also great to use a few weeks before an event, as part of a maintenance regimen, or just to get a pick-me-up glow.
What Is the Vitalize Peel?
The Vitalize Peel is a superficial chemical peel manufactured by SkinMedica®. It’s used to treat mild to moderate skin conditions like hyperpigmentation, acne, acne scarring, sun damage, melasma, inflamed skin, fine lines, and wrinkles.
This peel contains salicylic acid, lactic acid, resorcinol, retinoic acid, panthenol (an anti-irritant) and saponins (to enhance penetration of the chemical solution). A Vitalize Peel treatment improves the overall appearance of the skin by stimulating collagen production, minimizing scarring, tightening pores, improving skin texture, and reducing fine lines and wrinkles.
The Vitalize Peel Treatment Procedure
Before the peel procedure, avoid using any products or undergoing any other procedure that may increase the sensitivity of your skin. The peeling procedure takes around 20 minutes. The peel is applied in a three-step procedure:
- A prepping solution made of isopropyl alcohol, water, and acetone is applied to the treatment area.
- The peeling solution, containing salicylic acid, lactic acid, resorcinol, and panthenol, is applied. This solution helps to exfoliate the skin.
- A layer of retinol solution is applied.
There may be some tingling or burning sensations, which are normal, and any discomfort should subside within a few minutes after the procedure. There will be mild redness, which should subside on its own within a few hours.
Mild to moderate peeling will happen for about two to three days. There are visible results after just one peel, although three to six peels may be needed for more significant results. Peels can be repeated with a gap of three to four weeks between each session.
The Vitalize Peel can be used by anyone safely, as it is suitable for all skin types. The renewal process after a peel stimulates natural collagen production, making the skin look healthier.
Post-Treatment Care
There is very little downtime after the Vitalize Peel, as it is a non-invasive procedure. However, since the skin has just been exfoliated, extra care should be taken to limit sun exposure for at least a week after the procedure and also to use a broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher.
To maintain the results of the peel, a daily skincare regimen is helpful. A post-peel skincare regimen will be recommended by the doctor, which will include an appropriate cleanser, moisturizer, and sunscreen. You can resume regular skincare two to three days after the procedure, when the skin has finished peeling completely.
