Juvederm Voluma is the #1 injectable for cheek lifting.
Juvederm XC is an FDA-approved dermal filler that can be used to reduce the appearance of mild to moderate aesthetic issues like lines, wrinkles, and facial folds. Juvederm works by adding facial volume to give the skin a fuller, smoother, and more youthful appearance. At Shafer Clinic Fifth Avenue, we can restore the beauty of your face using Juvederm XC.
Hyaluronic Acid Juvederm XC
Hyaluronic acid products are injected to decrease fine lines, creases and depressions and to restore skin volume and fullness. Hyaluronic acid injections may be combined with Botox Cosmetic or other injection treatments. Juvederm XC comes in Ultra (lips and lines) and Ultra Plus (Volumizing cheeks and other parts of the face and also for deep ceases). Juvederm is excellent for the nasolabial folds.
A topical anesthetic is applied prior to injecting the skin if the patient prefers. Results of the treatment are immediate and usually last at least six months to one year.
Juvederm has a higher concentration of hyaluronic acid than Restylane. However, in many patient Restylane is an excellent choice. Both products are used to diminish moderate-to-severe facial wrinkles, including nasolabial folds, wrinkles on the lower and upper face, small wrinkles directly above the lips, and to create fuller lips.
Preparing for Your Juvederm Treatment
To minimize bleeding or bruising at the injection site, patients should not use non steroidal and anti-inflammatory medications, aspirin, herbal supplements or high doses of vitamin E three weeks prior to a Juvederm injection. The risk of bruising is very low, but every precaution is taken. If a patient does develop a bruise, we offer complimentary V beam laser to our patients which helps a bruise resolve much faster.
Juvederm Recovery and Results
There may be some redness and a small amount of swelling around the injection sites, but these issues will dissipate quickly. There should be no pain following your Juvederm XC treatment. Juvederm use does not cause an allergic reaction, because it is a non-animal-based product.
Results of Juvederm treatments usually last six months to one year. Once you notice your results are beginning to fade, you can come in for additional Juvederm XC injections to help maintain your results.
Juvederm
The cost of your Juvederm XC treatment in New York City can be discussed during your consultation at our plastic surgery office in New York City. Cost will be based on the areas of the face being treated and the amount of Juvederm needed.
As I have aged, my cheek bones are less prominent and visibly look older. I saw several doctors and consultations that only suggested surgery for cheek implants. When I saw Dr. S, he offered me Juvederm injections on the cheekbones to help fill the missing volume. We did the treatment on that visit. He just needs a few shots, but it made a big difference right away. I recommended Dr. S to my friend and my two sisters already. He is excellent!
Dark Circle Treatment: Replace Volume
“For dark circles, I recommend a multi-modality treatment,” says Dr. David Shafer, MD, FACS, a NYC-based plastic surgeon. “From the inside, you want to replace the volume that you lose with aging,” Dr. Shafer explains. If you notice a hollow-looking “trough” underneath your eyes, you’ve probably had some volume loss, and that’s what’s causing a dark, sunken appearance.
The solution? “We can use fillers for that,” Dr. Shafer says. A hyaluronic acid filler, such as Juvéderm or Restylane, will be able to fill in the area so that it becomes even with the surrounding areas of skin again.
