A breast lift, or mastopexy, is a surgical procedure that raises and reshapes sagging breasts by removing excess skin and tightening the surrounding tissue for a more youthful, elevated appearance.

Breast Lift FAQ
I've been told I need a breast lift with implants. Can I still get good results without a lift?
Without seeing pictures or seeing you in person, it's impossible to give you a specific answer. It's important to understand that implants do not give an appreciable 'lift' to the breasts. The implants add volume and shape. If your nipples are not centered or in a youthful position on your breasts, just doing implants can actually make the situation worse. In many cases, a lift is needed to remove extra skin and also center the nipple/areola complex. The implant is then added to give volume and shape to the breast. It is best to schedule a consultation to review your options. At the initial consultation, we can also perform VECTRA 3D imaging to show you in 3D on your body the possible results that the surgery can achieve.
Are breast lifts and augmentation two different surgeries?
In most cases, the breast lift and the implants can be performed at the same surgery. In the past, however, many surgeons would do the lift as a primary operation and then the implants at a secondary operation. This is a reasonable option for very large implants, as the added weight and stretch of placing a very large implant at the same time as the lift can put stress on the incisions and affect the overall result.
Would I be able to get a donut mastopexy?
In most cases, donut mastopexy does not give the breast a good shape. While it seems like a good idea to make two concentric circles and sew them together, what ends up happening is the surgery flattens the breast and also leads to too much tension on the incisions, which can lead to widening. With a vertical and possible horizontal component to the surgery, the breast is actually lifted and appears more perky. Additionally, the tension for the lift is transferred to the lower incisions which helps achieve a tension-free and naturally appearing areola.
Do I need a lift with implants?
You would need to be seen in person for a full evaluation and to review your options. A lift will help tighten the skin and center the nipple and areola on the breast tissue. The implant will help add volume and shape. During your consultation we can perform VECTRA 3D imaging to show you possible outcomes for surgery and to help you choose implant size.
