Plastic surgery continues to become increasingly popular around the world, especially here in New York. Trends in cosmetic surgery have changed over the years, with some patients choosing to make minor improvements to their physique or face, while others opt for a more drastic change. But while some plastic surgery patients have more or less a general idea of what their aesthetic goals are, many patients are set on looking to Hollywood for inspiration.

Lately, the trends in plastic surgery follow the “IT” Hollywood celebrities, including Kate Middleton and Kim Kardashian. Many women have turned to New York plastic surgeon Dr. David Shafer to undergo Rhinoplasty so they can have Middleton’s regal nose or ask for a Brazilian Butt Lift to gain Kardashian’s voluptuous derriere.

Celebrities have also been known to undergone their fair share of cosmetic surgery, but not everyone in Tinseltown likes to admit it. Luckily for the public, one group of Reality TV starlets has decided to give fans an inside look into their past – and present – plastic surgeries, dishing out the juicy details about their own procedures and those of their castmates.

The stars of “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” talked about something a little less ‘Real’ during the show’s reunion special on March 25. The ladies, who have all undergone at least some form of cosmetic enhancement, admit that they are no strangers to plastic surgery.

“Every day I look in the mirror and think, ‘Wow! I look a lot older than six months ago,’” said Housewife Kyle Richards, 44. “I’m never happy 100% [with my looks]. I’m always criticizing myself.”

Richards may look great for her age, but a lot of it is the work of a talented plastic surgeon. The Housewife admitted to undergoing Rhinoplasty some years back and liposuction last year to get rid of her love handles.

As much as it seems that the Housewives have all gone under the knife more than once, the ladies insist they haven’t had as many plastic surgery procedures as some might believe, but do admit to being regular fans of Botox, injectables and facial fillers.

“None of this group have [gotten major plastic surgery],” explained Lisa Vanderpump, 52, who although has never had facial plastic surgery, regularly gets Botox and other cosmetic injections.

Vanderpump claims she follows a low-carb diet and exercises regularly to stay in shape, but when it comes to Hollywood, the truth is somewhat ambiguous.

Another Housewife, Brandi Glanville, 40, interjected her co-star, claiming one of the girls in the bunch has had a ton of cosmetic work done – Adrienne Maloof.

When asked to specify exactly what treatments Maloof has undergone, Glanville joked, “What hasn’t she had done?”

According to Glanville, the Housewife cast that has gotten the most plastic surgery is the “Real Housewives of Orange County.”

“I think they’re all doing everything: lips, nose, eyes, and taking breast implants out and putting them back in,” said Glanville, who admits she had a breast enhancement and vaginal rejuvenation surgery. “I recently met some of those girls [from the OC] and it looks like they’re a bit overdone.”

And she might just be right about her assumptions. One of the Orange County Housewives, Vicki Gunvalson, 51, has just made headlines after revealing she got a plastic surgery makeover during a preview for the upcoming season of the show.

Gunvalson boasts about getting a chin implant and fillers around her nose and eyes after being teased over her appearance during previous seasons of RHOC, being called “Miss Piggy” by her castmate Gretchen Rossi’s boyfriend.

While there may or may not be some truth to what goes on during the taping of the show, Gunvalson spoke candidly about her personal struggle with her image in the season eight preview of the show.

“I’ve been ridiculed that I look like Miss Piggy,” admitted Gunvalson. “And it does hurt me.”

But now, the OC Housewife is proud of her new makeover and feels great about her looks.

“I did cartilage reconstruction on my nose, had fat injected into my upper cheeks and did a little chin implant.”

Just like it did for Gunvalson, plastic surgery can boost an individual’s self esteem in many ways. Although many people turn to cosmetic surgery for a whole new look, others undergo reconstructive plastic surgery procedures such as Rhinoplasty or Breast Reduction to correct asymmetrical features or deformities they have suffered with since birth.
